Frequently asked questions

Is Nova Clip really free?

Yes, completely. Nova Clip is a browser-based editor with no server costs for media — your footage never touches our servers, so there is nothing to charge you for. All features listed under Free are available right now at no cost.

What does the PRO tag mean?

Some tools in our apps carry a PRO tag, for example caption styles in Nova Clip. They are free to use today. The tag shows tools that may be paid later.

Do I need to create an account?

Only to export. Open the editor and start cutting immediately; when you download your video, sign in with a free Google or email account.

Where are my files stored?

Entirely on your device. Nova Clip runs as a client-side application — your video files are processed locally in your browser, with the Canvas API, WebCodecs and MediaRecorder. Your video, audio and photos are never uploaded. The Privacy page lists what we do store.

What browsers are supported?

Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge give the best experience, with fast export and usually both MP4 and WebM. Firefox and Safari on a Mac work for editing, and which export formats you get depends on the version. On Android, use Chrome. The Browser Support page has a quick check for your browser.

When will Pro be available?

There is no date yet. Cloud project save and multi-device sync are what is planned for Pro, and you can follow them on the Roadmap. MP4 export, 4K and LUT import are already in the Free plan.
