How to make your Aadhaar PDF smaller

  1. Choose your Aadhaar PDF

    Pick the e-Aadhaar PDF you downloaded, from your phone or computer.

  2. Type the password

    It is the first 4 letters of your name in capitals, then your year of birth. For SURESH KUMAR born in 1990 it is SURE1990. Nova Forms asks for it and opens the PDF on your device.

  3. Pick the limit

    Under 200 KB is already chosen. Tap Under 100 KB if your form wants less, or type your own number of KB.

  4. Make it smaller and save

    Tap Make my PDF smaller, look at the new size, and tap Save file. The new PDF has no password.

How do I compress an Aadhaar PDF?
Open the tool, choose your e-Aadhaar PDF, type its password when asked, pick Under 100 KB or Under 200 KB, and tap Make my PDF smaller. Then tap Save file.
What is the password of the e-Aadhaar PDF?
UIDAI says it is the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITAL letters, followed by your year of birth (YYYY). For example, SURESH KUMAR born in 1990 gets SURE1990.
Will the new PDF have a password?
No. The new PDF has no password, so the form you upload it to can read it. Keep the original e-Aadhaar PDF for your own records.
Is my Aadhaar uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and made in your browser, on your own device. The password is used once to open it, and it is not kept or sent anywhere.
What if it does not get under the limit?
You are told, and shown the smallest it can be. Try the Document look, take out a page you do not need, or choose a bigger limit.
Can I use this for other PDFs with a password?
Yes. Any PDF with a password that you know, for example a bank statement or a salary slip, can be opened, made smaller or joined with other PDFs.
Does it work on a phone?
