Free video compressor

Choose a video, pick how small you want it, and save a lighter copy that is easy to send on WhatsApp, email or a form with a size limit. It runs on your device, so your video is never uploaded.

Compress a video →You see about how many MB each size will give before you save.

How it works

  1. Choose your video

Pick a video from your phone or computer.

  2. Pick a size

Smallest (480p) for WhatsApp, Small (720p) for low data, or Balanced (720p) when it should still look sharp. Each one shows about how many MB it will be.

  3. Save the smaller video

The export dialog opens with the settings already chosen. Check them, tap Export and the smaller MP4 is saved.

Why use this tool

See the size first

Each choice shows about how big the new file will be, and how much smaller that is than your video.

Made for sharing

The result is an MP4 at a size that fits WhatsApp, email and most upload forms.

Private

Your video is made smaller on your device. It is not sent to a server.

No watermark

Nothing is stamped on your video. A free account is only needed when you export.

Trim or edit first

The video is on the timeline of a full editor, so you can cut the start and end before saving. A shorter video is a smaller file too.

Works on a phone

Built for phones, with big buttons and a simple choice of three sizes.

Tips for smaller videos

Questions

Is this video compressor free?
Yes. It is free to use with no watermark. A free account is only needed when you export the video.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is made smaller in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.
How much smaller will it be?
It depends on your video. Each size shows an estimate before you save, and tells you how much smaller that is than your original.
Will the quality get worse?
A smaller file always keeps less detail. Balanced (720p) still looks sharp on a phone. Smallest (480p) is best for quick sharing.
What format is the result?
An MP4 video, which plays on phones, computers and WhatsApp. If your browser cannot make MP4, you can choose WebM in the export dialog.
Can I trim the video as well?
Yes. Tap "Keep editing instead" to cut the start and end in the full editor, then export. A shorter video is a smaller file.
What if my video is already small?
You are told so. Making a small video smaller would only lose quality, so it is best left as it is.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Very large files (over about 300 MB) can be too big for some phones, so cut long videos into parts first.
